Renting a car in popular tourist cities, which are not particularly adapted to traffic, tourists risk not only getting additional stress, but also causing many unpleasant moments for themselves and others. This is how the Greek press commented on a kind of disaster that happened in Santorini. The driver, presumably a stupid tourist, “drove” the Nissan Micra into a narrow pebble so that the vehicle literally got stuck between two walls of houses. Accordingly, stupid tourists could not get out of the car through the door either.
Interestingly, this situation had to be reported on social networks to the local authorities of the town of Mesaria on Santorini, where the incident occurred. Moreover, they warned local residents and tourists that this street will be closed for some time as a result of the accident. The Easter holidays and the emergency condition of the car prevented the immediate “extraction” of the car. The authorities also reported that they had notified the car rental company.
The culprits must have disappeared from the scene – however, it is not very clear how they managed to do it so quickly – because the doors of the car were securely blocked by the walls of the houses between which it was stuck. “Someone must have climbed out the back hatch. We hope that this did not spoil their vacation too much,” commented the local media not without irony. Considering everything, it is still unclear who turned out to be such a “lucky driver” and what penalty awaits him for the accident.
By the way, the width of this car is about 177 cm, that is, it is easy to imagine the width of the street where the tourist was trying to squeeze through.
At the same time, local websites add that this is not the first time when such optimists at the wheel get stuck on the streets of the town — a similar case happened in the same area a few years ago. So tourists are once again reminded that many old cities, not only in Greece, but also throughout Europe, have streets that are not adapted for the movement of cars. And they also recommend that tourists familiarize themselves with the city map for motorists in advance in order to avoid such excesses.
