A recession has begun in Turkey’s tourism: a popular resort complains that tourists have disappeared somewhere

Another popular Turkish resort, although not too visible to Ukrainian tourists, complained that the tourists had disappeared somewhere. This was stated by Hilmi Selimoglu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eden Group, who assessed the situation in the province of Canakkale, separately – in the local resort of Assos. He stated that the region, which receives thousands of tourists every year, is experiencing a recession and a major decline.

Selimoglu, chairman of the board of the Eden Group, which operates four hotels in this resort, said that earlier in these hotels “it was difficult to find a room, now it’s the opposite.” “As one of the first tourism professionals in the region, I would like to draw attention to the stagnation and recession in tourism this year. In recent years it has been difficult to find a room, now we are going through a difficult period in the middle of the season. Assos, which is one of the key resorts, is particularly affected, and during this period is experiencing silence,” said the Turkish expert.

Among the main problems of the region, where “nature and history are intertwined”, he named, firstly, the lack of personnel. Second, and as expected, the problem is the prices at the resort.

As a reminder, Canakkale is a province at the junction of the Marmara and Aegean seas. It is known for the fact that nearby is the famous Troy, where many tourists usually come. The resort of Assos itself is 20 km from the city of Canakkale, the capital of the province of the same name.
