A nutritionist explains why you shouldn’t chew gum during a flight

Relaxing during a flight is a difficult task for many, and the food and snacks passengers consume can make things difficult. The Sun tells us more.

Nutritionist Ryan Davidson of Raw Juicery explains why the most popular life hack isn’t as healthy as it seems.

“Spending a long time in an airplane cabin makes our breathless fresh, and chewing gum, although it seems tempting, can cause bloating. Even if your ears are blocked, you should give up chewing gum,” he noted.

High cabin pressure increases the risk of discomfort due to gases. Artificial sweeteners found in chewing gum may make the situation worse. If you need to relieve pressure in your ears, it is best to try chewing a small amount of mint.

It is also recommended that you avoid eating apples for 24 hours before your flight. The high fiber content of this product may cause bloating.

Flight attendants advise avoiding salty foods as they can cause headaches, constipation, and fatigue due to dehydration. This applies to foods high in sodium: pasta, soups, and some Indian dishes.
