Another uproar and even a nudity scandal unfolded in Egypt: another foreign tourist and photo blogger published her nude photos on her accounts against the background of the Giza Pyramids and complained to the local authorities. As a result, a stormy controversy unfolded.
As the blogger complained, she was not allowed to enter the area of the archaeological pyramids for “not wearing a bra.” In addition, she said, she was asked to delete her photos.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in turn, reported that a female tourist was found entirely naked in the area of the pyramids. According to an employee of the administrative security service in the area of the Giza pyramids, “the tourist completely undressed and tried to take a picture in front of the Sphinx.” They also confirmed that the tourist was ordered to get dressed immediately. The blogger was also informed that this was a violation.
Her posing nude “is a criminal offense under Egyptian law, custom, and tradition,” authorities said. At the same time, it is emphasized that no sanctions were applied to the tourist, she was “allowed to complete the visit to the archaeological zone without any obstacles.”
