The “Risk Map,” which identifies the most dangerous and safest countries for travel for tourists, was published by Safeture and Riskline. In total, the researchers identified five gradations of countries according to the degree of risk – from low to critical.
On the map for leisure and business travelers in 2024, countries are highlighted in different colors. The five risk levels are as follows: low risk (dark green), moderate risk (light green), medium risk (yellow), high risk (orange), and critical risk (red). Risk depends on various factors, including safety, crime, health risks, and medical care.
As expected, most of Europe was included in the list of “dark green” countries with low risk: Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Portugal, Iceland, Norway and Finland, as well as Canada and Australia. Researchers have designated the USA and China as countries with a “moderate” risk, and most of the European tourist favorites – France, Spain, Italy, and the UK – are also painted similarly. China, Thailand, the UAE, Oman, and other popular destinations are also colored light green.
The number of countries where the risk is “red” and critical is generally predictable. These include Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, South Sudan and Yemen. Some countries that are not averse to attracting Russian tourists are also marked by it, such as Venezuela and Myanmar.
