The American marshal, also known as the bailiff, ended up behind bars in London. He was accused of sexually assaulting a woman during the flight. This was reported by NBC New York.
The incident took place on a Delta flight on its way from New York to London. Two federal marshals accompanied the suspect, who was extradited to the British capital as part of a criminal case. It was clarified that instead of watching over the detainee, they got drunk, while one of them began to cling to the female tourist.
At Heathrow Airport, an offended woman filed a lawsuit, complaining about the obscene behavior of a drunken marshal. The passenger reported to the flight crew that she was touched in inappropriate places. As a result, local law enforcement arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault, and the second marshal was sent back to New York Wednesday night without any charges. Regarding the first, the police are investigating.
A representative of the US Bailiffs Service said that they are aware that the officer “committed a serious breach of discipline while in a state of alcohol intoxication on a flight from New York.” The spokesperson added that the agency is cooperating with law enforcement agencies in Great Britain and other agencies in connection with the incident.
