Lava began to erupt from the crater at the top of the Mayon volcano in the Philippines. Due to the danger, the local authorities began to evacuate the population. This is reported by The Watchers.
As reported, activity on the volcano began to increase on June 5. Rockfalls have been occurring at the summit since then, and Mayon released a lava flow yesterday. As a result of the increased activity of the volcano, one of the provinces of the Philippines was in a state of disaster. The authorities announced the evacuation of all residents within a radius of 6 kilometers from the volcano.
The beautifully symmetrical Mayon Volcano rises 2,462 meters above Albay Bay. It is the most active volcano in the Philippines.
The volcano has steep upper slopes with an average steepness of 35-40 degrees, crowned by a small crater at the top.
Over the past 400 years, the volcano has erupted more than 50 times, each time striking with its power. The most destructive eruption occurred on February 1, 1814, when a lava flow completely destroyed the town of Kagzawa, killing more than 1,200 people. In 1993, another eruption resulted in the death of 79 people. And in 2013, four German climbers and their guide died as a result of the eruption.
