The Netherlands celebrates the annual opening of its largest tulip garden, with seven million flowering plants.
Time Out reports that the iconic Keukenhof is welcoming visitors back, opening its gates for the 2024 season. This is the largest and most famous flower festival in the Netherlands, which demonstrates the abundance and diversity of tulips. The exhibition features hundreds of varieties of tulips, with a total of seven million flowers.
This year’s festival began on March 21 and will continue until May 12. During this period, the gardens are open to the public and visitors can watch the displays change each week. In addition to tulips, the symbol of the Netherlands, you can also see irises, lilies, daffodils, orchids, hyacinths, and other flowers.
Keukenhof is located on the grounds of a 17th-century castle in the town of Lisse, which is an hour and a half drive from The Hague, Haarlem, Leiden, and Amsterdam. In 2024, it celebrates its 75th anniversary. The garden offers guests more than just admiring flowers. Visitors can enjoy themed pavilions, bicycle excursions, and boat rides. There is also the opportunity to have a picnic.
