The city of Harim in Syria, near the border with Turkey, was “completely wiped off the face of the earth” as a result of a strong earthquake that occurred this morning. This was reported by the local authorities.
In Harim, according to the latest data, 30,000 people lived. Local authorities describe the damage to infrastructure from the quake as “absolutely horrendous”. The exact number of victims in the city is being established.
Earlier it became known that as a result of the earthquake in Syria, 237 people were killed, and another 639 were injured. According to the Ministry of Health, rescuers are still extracting people from under the rubble of buildings.
In Turkey, the death toll has risen to 284, with 2,323 injured.
