Yellow haze and desert sand from the Sahara covered many areas of Spain and the Balearic Islands on Tuesday, UPI reports.
Sandy’s sandstorm erupted last night, aided by storm Celia, which hit the Canary Islands on Monday. Strong winds drove sand clouds towards Spain. Only a few areas were devoid of large clouds, and the southeastern Spanish city of Almeria was covered in an orange haze.
The sandstorm will peak on Tuesday, with lower concentrations reaching Britain and Germany.
This usually lasts for several days, leaving behind sand and dust. The dust storm delayed the work of some transport services, and people with respiratory problems were asked to stay indoors during the storm.
According to weather forecasters, the storm may last until Friday.
The hurricane affected other European countries and reached Bulgaria. On Wednesday morning, the sky in some parts of Bulgaria was orange due to the sand of the Sahara.
