The social network TikTok overtook Facebook at the end of last year, becoming the most downloaded application among social networks. This was reported by the Nikkei newspaper with reference to its own study.
The publication began publishing reviews of downloads on social networks around the world in 2018, and since then TikTok has pushed Facebook out of the top for the first time. The results are based on data obtained from the American analytical agency App Annie.
“The total time to watch TikTok in the US and the UK is longer than on YouTube, and the short videos will continue to attract attention,” said Annie Chuzen Keane, application marketing manager.
She added that such categories as music and humor are gaining popularity. Consumers are also interested in voice social networks. For example, demand for Clubhouse in Japan and the United States began to grow earlier this year.
TikTok is owned by ByteDance, a Chinese company founded in 2012.
