From January 1, the rules for renting housing in Turkey will change for tourists. The short-term rentals provision adopted by Parliament and made into law comes into force, according to which short-term rentals can only be carried out through Group A travel agencies.
“With the law coming into force on January 1, those engaged in rental activities for tourism purposes will apply to the ministry for permission within a month. The permit process will be completed within 3 months from the date of application. Those whose applications are not accepted will not be able to work, but the rights of users of these residences will remain until the end of the contract,” writes the Turkish press.

In addition, homeowners wishing to rent out their homes will have to get approval from all their neighbors.
For renting out a house for tourism purposes without permission, homeowners will face an administrative fine of 100 thousand liras for each rented house. “Repeat offenders” will be subject to an administrative fine of 500 thousand lire.
