“Emigrants and foreign tourists” have caused a dizzying rise in house prices in the resort provinces of Turkey. Turkish media record the rise in prices in Antalya and Mugla in general at previously unthinkable levels – more than 100%. And we are talking only about the last year and a half – about the period from May 2019, when prices rose sharply.

At the same time, everyone refers to the demand of foreign tourists – foreign expatriates more often came to Turkey in the summer months after the summer break. They bought more housing. According to Haberturk expert Abdurrahman Yildirim, the growth rate in the group of provinces of Mugla, Aydin and Denizli, ie in the resort provinces is significantly higher – 53.7%. “Bodrum is at the forefront of rising prices: rising prices in Bodrum are well above average. In Antalya, the capital of tourism, housing prices have risen by 42%, “said the Turkish expert, adding that” in fact, rising housing prices are causing dizziness. ”
“If we consider the period of 2 years from May 2019, when prices began to rise, in general, the housing price index in Turkey increased by 74.8%. But this is average height. In Mugla and Aydin, price growth was 108.1%, in Antalya a little less – 101.6% “, – added the Turkish expert.
At the same time, the number of households as such in Turkey is not increasing. The level of housing ownership among locals, which ranged from 59 to 61% over many years, fell to 57% for the first time in 2020. “In other words, the price of housing is raised by two categories – those who have more than one place of residence, as well as foreigners or immigrants,” – adds the Turkish expert.
