On July 29, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar received the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Ukraine Hadi Nasser Al-Hajri.
The diplomats discussed topical issues on the agenda of Ukrainian-Qatari relations, emphasizing the importance of deepening political dialogue at the high and highest levels. In this context, the interlocutors agreed to work out possible dates of the visit of the Amir of Qatar to Ukraine, taking into account the restrictions due to the global COVID-19 pandemic in the world.
Vasyl Bodnar welcomed the participation of Qatari companies in the modernizing the major infrastructure projects, including seaports in Ukraine. The parties noted that trade and investment cooperation development is a key priority in strengthening relations between Ukraine and Qatar. In this context, the sides agreed to promote holding regular meetings of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Qatari Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation.
The interlocutors also stressed the need to increase the number of direct flights between Ukraine and Qatar to encourage business contacts and intensify cooperation in tourism and culture.
