In Ukraine, PayPal has always been open for registration, but previously Ukrainian customers could only pay for goods in online stores or any services. The service works with 25 currencies, but there was no hryvnia among them.
The Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine invited PayPal to Ukraine, thanking the PayPal management for suspending business in Russia.
“We are grateful to Dan Shulman for supporting Ukraine and suspending business in Russia. We invite PayPal to Ukraine! Your presence will provide more financial freedom to 40 million Ukrainians in these difficult times,” the minister wrote.
Mikhail Fedorov said that the PayPal event in such a difficult time for Ukrainians will expand their opportunities in business and in obtaining funds from relatives. He also proposed to abolish the commission for all PayPal services by the end of 2022 in Ukraine.
Dan Shulman sent a reply letter stating that PayPal was working on how they could provide services in Ukraine and was pleased to announce that PayPal was launching a service that would allow Ukrainian customers to transfer and receive personal payments. This means that the function of receiving PayPal transfers to a credit or debit card of a Ukrainian bank will finally be available in Ukraine.
“PayPal in Ukraine! Now you can shop online, transfer funds and withdraw money to Ukrainian bank cards. Tie up your Visa and Mastercard and use it now. Thank you to the team for responding so quickly to our request and for supporting Ukrainians during the war. Also, many thanks to our team, the National Bank team and the IT community for their help.” – Mikhail Fedorov wrote in his telegram channel
Shulman also assured that they will not charge a commission from the sender or recipient if he is a citizen of Ukraine.
