Europe’s largest airline Ryanair intends to return to Ukraine immediately after Ukraine’s victory over Russia.
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said the airline is now actively recruiting Ukrainian pilots and flight attendants to be ready to return to the country after the end of the war, Reuters reports.
“We are determined to return to Ukraine as soon as it is safe to do so … We are recruiting enough Ukrainian pilots and flight attendants specifically so that we can … reestablish bases in Ukraine if and when it is safe to do so,” O said. ‘Leary.
Ryanair and the war in Ukraine
On February 2, 2022, low-cost carrier Ryanair announced its intention to import 15-20 aircraft to Ukraine.
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary has promised that Ryanair will be “the first airline to return to Ukraine” after the Russian invasion when it is safe to do so.
On April 25, 2022, Ryanair announced that it plans to resume flights from Ukraine in the fall of 2022.
On January 18, 2023, O’Leary announced an increase in the company’s air ticket prices already in 2023. O’Leary explained that holidaymakers won’t see fares below £9.99 for the next year or two due to high oil prices.
