On June 2, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhenii Yenin met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ukraine Manouchehr Moradi.
The meeting discussed a range of issues related to the January 8 downing of a Boeing-737 flight PS 752 of Ukraine International Airlines in Iran.
It was stressed the need for the Iranian side to provide a transparent and objective investigation aimed at establishing the causes of the plane crash, bringing the perpetrators to justice, paying compensation to the families of the victims.
In this regard, Yevgeny Yenin noted the importance of full and unconditional cooperation between the Iranian side in the issue of decoding flight recorders as soon as possible in accordance with the international law.
In response, Manouchehr Moradi assured of the Iran’s readiness for the dialogue with Ukraine in the legal, technical and political dimensions to resolve issues related to the consequences of the plane crash, and informed that Ukraine is considered by Iran as a priority state in the context of investigation and decoding “black boxes “of the downed plane.
The Ambassador also noted that the information spread by some Iranian media about the intentions of the Iranian Government to pass the recorders for decryption directly to France, due to “delaying” negotiation process by Ukraine, was not true and did not reflect the official position of Tehran.
The Deputy Minister informed the vis-a-vis on the formation of the official delegation of Ukraine for upcoming talks with Iran. He stated that in the near future Ukraine would present its negotiation team.
It was agreed to strengthen cooperation at diplomatic level in order to accelerate the resolution of existing problematic issues.
