NATO does not see an immediate risk of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana said in an interview with Digi 24.
“At the same time, we note with concern that the rhetoric on this issue is intensifying, and in our view it is more an element of psychological pressure on Ukraine and the population in NATO and democracies. We do not see an immediate risk of using such weapons,” he said.
In his opinion, the conflict in Ukraine will be protracted.
The situation remains difficult. Given the situation on the ground, it is likely to be a protracted conflict, Geoana said.
He said that there is no military threat to Moldova and Georgia at the moment BTA notes.
