Health officials in the UK have urged people infected with monkeypox not to have sex to prevent spreading the infection. The authorities of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales also joined the call. In recent days, 71 more cases have been identified in the UK.
The total number of confirmed cases in the UK since May 7 is 179, according to BGNES, with four confirmed cases in Scotland, two in Northern Ireland, and one in Wales.
People with monkeypox were also urged to avoid close contact with other people until their rash had healed and all the crusts had dried. It is recommended to have sex with a condom within eight weeks of infection. People who have had contact with an infected person are also recommended to isolate for 21 days.
