Greece has recorded its first case of monkeypox in an English tourist, the Hellenic Public Health Service said yesterday, citing AFP.
An English citizen and his companion are hospitalized and quarantined, the service said.
Laboratory tests should confirm the diagnosis by tomorrow.
Several Western countries, including France, Germany, Britain, the US, Spain, and Sweden, have already declared cases of monkeypox.
This is a rare disease, the causative agent of which can be transmitted from animals to humans and vice versa.
