An evacuation has been announced for 160,000 people in southwestern Japan due to the passage of Typhoon Lupit. About it writes RIA Novosti with reference to the NHK TV channel.
For example, evacuation reports were received from about 139 thousand residents of the northern part of Kyushu, six thousand Japanese in Fukuoka Prefecture, about two thousand – in Oita Prefecture, and 13 thousand – in Kagoshima Prefecture.
It is noted that currently typhoon “Lupit” passes on land in the area of the settlement of Makurazaki. The pressure in the center reaches 990 hectopascals, and the speed of the accompanying wind is estimated at 108 kilometers per hour. It is reported that the region may receive up to 300 millimeters of rain per day. Residents are also warned of the increased risk of landslides and flooding.
Earlier in July, experts warned of another powerful typhoon “Nepartak”, which was also moving to the shores of Japan. According to them, this is the eighth strongest typhoon that has formed in the Pacific Ocean.
