The tornado caused significant material damage while passing through the city of Catania on the island of Sicily.
The storm, accompanied by hail and downpour, knocked down trees and street poles. Cars are broken, and at home and basements under water.
Reports of injured citizens were received, and all residents were urged not to leave their homes. Due to the strong storm, several flights from Catania Airport were canceled.
