Italian company Eni will not pay for the supply of Russian gas in rubles, because there is no such possibility, said its chairman Claudio Descalci at the Global Energy Forum in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), quoted by TARS.
He added that Eni has already announced its withdrawal from the Blue Stream project, and joint projects with Rosneft have been frozen since 2014.

Eni S.p.A. – Italian multinational oil and gas company headquartered in Rome. Considered one of the world’s seven largest oil companies, it operates in 66 countries with a market capitalization of $ 36.08 billion.
“The only big problem is the supply of natural gas. We have no assets or projects in Russia, but we buy Russian gas. They want us to pay them in rubles we don’t have. It’s not about the agreements under which payment must be made in euros. It cannot be changed unilaterally, for this there must be an agreement on this change,” Deskalci said.
He noted that Italy could replace Russian gas with gas from Africa.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a report by March 31 showing how “enemy states” will pay for the gas received in rubles. The report is administered by the Council of Ministers, the Central Bank of Russia and Gazprom.
