In Venice, in a greatly reduced form, but still on February 12, the world-famous carnival opened. Some events will not be held this year, for example, the “Flight of the Angel” from the bell tower in St. Mark’s Square and the parade of gondolas were canceled – traditionally these are the most massive events.
But despite certain restrictions for the Venetians, this is already a symbol of a return to the old days. Most importantly, the holiday, which was canceled since the beginning of the pandemic, took place. Last year, the organizers held it online.
Residents and guests of the city are also pleased with the fact that under carnival masks from Friday, February 11, it is no longer necessary to wear medical masks. And in principle, everything goes in the direction of simplification or abolition of prohibitions.
As a reminder, entry to Italy for the purpose of tourism is still closed. However, travel companies are hoping for an early opening of the country.
