The Italian government has announced that from September 1, persons wishing to use any mode of public transport, such as airplanes, buses, ferries, etc., will be required to present a green pass or a COVID-19 vaccination passport to be eligible be in the vehicle.
Moreover, the Italian authorities announced that the same rule began to apply from August 6 to all those who want to enter restaurants, theaters, cinemas, events, sports, museums, swimming pools, gyms, spas, amusement parks, casinos, conferences.
The COVID-19 or Green Pass vaccination passport for Italy is issued to those who have received one or two doses of COVID, or the PCR or antigen test results performed in the last 48 hours have given a negative result. In addition, those who have been cured of the coronavirus in the last six months are eligible for the document.
The country successfully joined the EUDCC gateway in June, becoming one of the first countries to do so in Europe to facilitate travel in a coronavirus pandemic.
Currently, the Italian authorities only recognize vaccines authorized by the European Medicines Agency, as indicated in the list below:
- Cominnaty Pfizer-BioNTech by BioNTech Manufacturing GmbH
- Spikevax, formerly Moderna from Moderna Biotech Spain, SL
- Vaxzvria, formerly AstraZeneca from AstraZeneca Ab
