The couple from the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu is organizing a wedding party in the metaverse for the first time – and, even more surprisingly, it’s about Harry Potter.
Metaverse is a virtual online world where users can communicate live with other people through digital avatars and holographic 3D videos. It offers a hyperreal alternative world in which one can coexist.
Дінеш С.П. and Janaganandhini Ramaswami are to be married on February 6 in the village of Shivalingapuram. They are organizing their celebration at Hogwarts in digital format.

“I came up with the idea of organizing a wedding celebration in the metaverse. My fiancée also liked the idea,” said Dinesh, a software engineer, blockchain and NFT enthusiast, of the Times of India.
Dinesha’s fiancée, Janagananndhini, said she was “delighted” with the idea of virtually entering Hogwarts.
“Given that we met on Instagram, it is appropriate to arrange a wedding reception at Meta,” she said.
The wedding invitation went viral on Twitter after the happy couple shared it, leaving many social media users amazed. Meanwhile, due to the coronavirus crisis, only a limited number of guests are allowed to attend weddings in India.
