Turkish hotel revolution in Egypt: luxury hotels from Turkey began expansion into the Egyptian resort of Makadi

Turkish expansion in the form of luxury hotel chains originally from Turkey continues in the resorts of Egypt. So, soon in Makadi near Hurghada tourists will be received by Xanadu Makadi Bay hotel with 815 rooms.

The hotel belongs to the holding company OTI Hotels & Resorts CO – a company of Turkish origin, which includes such a well-known tour operator as Coral Travel.

The new hotel in Hurghada is located next to Makadi Bay. According to the representative of the holding Hakan Yilmaz, the hotel will offer tourists a high-class concept – High-Class All-Inclusive. He also told Egyptian media that 17 of the group’s 22 hotels are in Turkey, 4 are already in Egypt and 1 is in Vietnam, 4 of which are owned by the group, and the rest are franchised.

It should be noted that OTI Holding, which started operating in 1992, works in various fields of tourism. In particular, it includes the tour operator brand Coral Travel, which is well known to Ukrainian tourists.

At the time of its existence, the holding brought 1.2 to 1.5 million tourists from different countries to Antalya alone. As for hotel projects, they started in 2020 – then the holding company launched a large-scale project to create its hotel chain OTI Hotels & Resorts International. It includes hotels under the Seven Seas Resort & Hotels brand, as well as the aforementioned Otium Hotels and Xanadu Resort brands.

It will be recalled that last year another Turkish hotel chain, popular with Ukrainian tourists, came to Hurghada – Rixos. Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas opened at the resort last spring. The hotel has 410 suites and villas. The well-known Turkish network in Egypt does not plan to stop there: next to Rixos Premium Magawish Suites & Villas, the second stage of the hotel will appear in 2023, with a large water park, and additional rooms and other infrastructure.
