Tourists, strongly concerned about their safety from possible hidden cameras in a hotel room or rented apartment, were revealed the easiest way to look for “bugs”, even if the phone’s camera cannot capture the infrared signal “giving out” the camera. For this, as Aaron Bond, private investigator, and Bond Rees security expert, assures, turning off the light in the room and a roll of toilet paper is enough.
The expert’s advice to tourists is as follows: “The cheapest and most effective way to find a hidden camera lens in your room is to turn off all the lights in your room and close all the curtains and blinds. Then take the inside of a toilet paper roll and hold it up to one eye while covering the other. Camera lenses glisten when the light hits them, and using a toilet paper roll will help your eyes focus and make finding those obsessive devices much easier.”
He advises paying particular attention to the corners of the room, as well as various “hard-to-reach heights”, such as the corner of a closet or air conditioner. This position gives the camera a good view.
