Hotels can be grouped almost endlessly, there are many parameters: the largest and smallest, the most expensive, chain, cave, and so on. And now — about the thinnest hotel building in the world. It is located in Indonesia.
The world’s thinnest hotel is the Pitu Rooms, located in the city of Salatiga in the Central Java province of Indonesia (about 480 km southeast of the country’s capital, Jakarta). The hotel opened recently — less than a year ago, in December 2022.
The width of the hotel building is 2.8 meters. Ari Indra, an architect and hotel owner, explains that they built the building on a piece of land that no one wanted to buy because of its unusual and inconvenient dimensions.
The thinnest hotel in the world has 5 floors, but only 7 rooms. Each room has a double bed and a small bathroom with a shower and toilet. Indonesian designers design the interiors.
A week’s stay in the thinnest hotel in the world from December 14 to 21 will cost $550 for two, including all taxes and fees, meals — and breakfast. New Year’s dates are already sold out.
Ari Indra says the hotel’s current clientele is mostly Indonesians, but he and his team hope to attract more foreigners to Salatiga with its unusual features.
“The problem lies in the typical mentality that has prevailed in the hotel sector, accustomed to words such as “biggest, tallest, and most luxurious.” And we are simply the best hotel,” he said in an interview with Turkish media.
