Istanbul has “good expectations” from tourism in 2022. At the same time, tourists are warned that in May, hotels in the “cultural capital” of Turkey will soon be empty. This statement was made by a senior official, Nureddin Nebati, Minister of Treasury and Finance.
“Currently, the occupancy rate of Istanbul hotels in May has reached 92%. In April, it is only about 68%. That is, there will be no vacancies in hotels in Istanbul in May, “said the head of the Treasury. As for the markets that filled the hotels, it was mostly the Middle East – “Arabs and Saudis”, as defined by Mr. Nebati.
Such a lively start promotes optimism: “Our expectations for tourism are very good. I believe we will exceed our target of 45 million tourists and $ 35 billion in tourism revenue. We see high demand, we see hotels that are already fully booked for 2-3 months, “the official said.
In turn, hotels in the resort provinces of Turkey, especially Antalya, decide to postpone the opening to a later period. Many facilities will not open for the May holidays, read the details at the link.
