Newlyweds from Germany sued a five-star hotel because the bed in their room was too narrow and won the case.
German tourists booked a room with a double bed. However, when they arrived on vacation, they were disappointed by the size of the bed — it was only 140 centimeters wide. Having returned from their honeymoon, the couple decided to sue the hotel for compensation for discomfort and ruined vacation.
The Hannover court ruled that the 140 cm wide bed was not a double bed and decided that the couple was entitled to a refund from the hotel.
The hotel, which failed to provide accommodations consistent with its rating, has already paid the newlyweds 15 percent of the cost they spent on the trip.
