King Charles, the newly crowned British monarch, invites you to spend a holiday at his home in Romanian Transylvania.
The current British king has long been a fan of Transylvania. He bought a mansion in this Romanian region and turned it into a guest house. Anyone can spend their next vacation there.
The royal family purchased and restored an 18th-century Saxon cottage in the Transylvanian village of Viscri after first visiting the region in 1998. The house, officially known as Zalan’s guest house, is open to travelers and proceeds go to his local charitable foundation.
“The Prince of Wales hopes that his guest house will encourage more people to visit Transylvania and thus contribute to the development of this land,” the guest house’s website explains. “Proceeds from the guest house go to the Prince of Wales Foundation in Romania.”
Part of the premises of the house has been converted into a training center to help the Romanian villages and teach guests traditional crafts and rural skills.
Guests of the hotel from the doorway get into the traditional local life thanks to its antique furniture and handmade woolen carpets. Tourists can also use the communal areas, including the lounge and dining room, where chefs prepare family-style meals from local produce.
The hotel will help guests to explore the surroundings with activities that take place daily and are included in the all-inclusive rate. The program includes walks in the neighborhood, dinners in the fresh air, and winter – horse-drawn sleigh rides with mulled wine.
Travelers are encouraged to book an all-inclusive rate that includes a welcome drink and dinner on arrival, excursions, local entrance fees, transport, and breakfast on the day of departure. Prices are from 157 to 167 euros per person per night.
