The main “trend” in Europe this year — the rise in prices caused by the rise in inflation of goods and services — has not escaped the hotels. This is the conclusion of the Spanish travel service Mabrian, which provided data on hotel price monitoring in Europe. The prices were presented for August and were compared with the previous times.
Despite the increase in prices, in most tourist destinations it “doesn’t catch up” with inflation, experts of the service note. According to their statements, price increases in 3 and 4-star hotels in Spain, England, France, and Portugal, as well as 4- and 5-star hotels in Italy, remained below inflation.
- The record holder, as in the previous service study, remains Greece — here, compared to the year before 2019, prices rose by 134% in 5* hotels. “Threes” and “fours” are also increasing in price, but not so clearly – by 31% and 82%, respectively.
- In Italy, the increase in prices is quite modest — by an average of 27%. The price of 3* hotels increased most seriously before the “pre-modern” times.
- In Spain, on the contrary, the luxury segment is becoming more expensive. In 3-4* hotels, the price increase is no higher than 4-6%, while 5* hotels have risen in price by 13%
- In France, price growth remains moderate – 4-5% on average.
- In Great Britain, the price increase for 3* hotels was 7%. But 4-5* hotels have even reduced their prices a little – but only by 1% even before the previous report, that is, until July. Compared to the 2019 level, prices increased by 12%.
- In Germany, 3* hotels rose in price by 12%, 4* hotels by 18%, and the highest price increase in the luxury segment — by 25%.
