Which resort in Egypt to choose: Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh? Experts will tell you how the two most popular holiday destinations on the Red Sea differ, and what are the disadvantages and advantages of each. And you just have to choose a tour of Egypt and enjoy your vacation.
Coral reef
Hurghada. Almost all hotels in Hurghada have a sandy and gentle entrance to the sea, which is ideal for families with small children. It is difficult to find a coral reef near hotels, so you will have to take field trips or sail on a boat and dive with an instructor. But in terms of beauty, it is no different from other resorts on the Red Sea.
Sharm El Sheikh. Here, the opposite is true: a large number of hotels with their coral reef, and a small number of hotels with a sandy entrance to the sea. But at the same time, there are noticeable savings on excursions to nature reserves. And for big lovers of the underwater world, not far from Sharm el-Sheikh is the Ras Mohammed National Reserve, a beautiful untouched corner of nature.
Recreation features
Hurghada is more suitable for families. Here, almost every hotel has a spacious area where tourists spend most of their time. Each hotel has several swimming pools, cafes, bars and restaurants, water slides, attractions open for children, and animators’ work. In the evenings, the hotel usually hosts shows and discos.
Sharm el Sheikh is ideal for those who want to party from the heart on vacation. Discos until dawn, famous DJs, modern clubs, and bars – the nightlife here is in full swing. If “Beach by day, fun by night” is your motto, this is the resort for you.
Attractions
If you want to see the famous pyramids, Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, Giza, and Cairo during your stay in Egypt, give preference to Hurghada: you can easily see all this as part of a one-day excursion.
Guests of Sharm el-Sheikh choose excursions to Mount Sinai – usually, the ascent begins late at night, and then you meet the dawn at the top (unforgettable impressions!). From here it is also easy to get to the famous rock city of Petra and Israel.
Hotels
Hurghada. The hotels here are very beautiful, all made with originality and each in its style: some look like Arab castles, others like medieval fortresses, and still others are modern European-style hotels. Most of the hotels here are close to the sea, especially for the “fives”. The territory of the hotels is very large, with a developed infrastructure.
Sharm El Sheikh. Most of the hotels here are simpler than in Hurghada. They do not differ in special style and originality, and some are located quite far from the sea, so sometimes you have to travel a long way to get to the beach.
What common
Both in Hurghada and in Sharm el-Sheikh, there are equally small bays: you can walk hundreds of meters, and the water will still only reach your knees.
Everywhere there are very good roads, there are no traffic lights, but there are a lot of speed bumps. The movement is largely based on the communication of drivers through the signal. They honk in all cases: when they want to overtake, when they want to let pass when they want to say hello or attract the attention of a tourist.
Gasoline is cheap in Egypt, so taxis are more than affordable.
How well the food is, does not depend on the resort, but on the hotel. The main dishes here do not differ in national color, but Egyptian pastries are very tasty.
As for the people, both in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada, they are very open, cheerful, and kind and look forward to tourists every year.
