Barbie’s bright pink house will be available for a short time to stay not only for plastic guests.
Deadline has revealed that the hot pink mansion spotted in Malibu is indeed nothing more than a Barbie doll’s “dream house”. The action for its rental for everyone was timed to coincide with the imminent release of a thematic film about the adventures of a doll in reality.
The press materials of the promotion revealed some details: this time, Ken himself invites guests to the house.
“Ken invites two happy guests to stay at the newly refurbished Malibu DreamHouse. While Barbie is away, Ken has airbnb-listed his room in her house and by popular demand is bringing back Barbie’s all-pink world,” reads the promotional offer.
An aerial photo released by KCAL News helicopter operator John Schreiber shows the three-story palace with the iconic ice skating rink and a second-floor pink slide leading to a chic rimless pool containing giant floating letters that make up the name “K-E-N”. The Pink Palace also includes a gym, a giant sandpit, an off-road bike, and a hot pink cowboy-style bedroom.
Spotted this thing from 10 miles away flying over #Malibu today. Is that a…. real life #Barbie Malibu House?? Seems to be. Pink everything… a water slide… floating "KEN" letters. Publicity stunt? Huge Barbie fans? Filming location #BarbieMovie ? Who knows. @kcalnews pic.twitter.com/6x9gEcFoVf

Only two dates are available for one night stay for two guests: 21 and 22 July. Reservations will open on July 17 at 10 a.m. PT, the source adds.
The company notes that the stay for guests will be completely free, because “Ken is interested in the beach, not math.” In addition, Airbnb is offering a one-time donation to Save the Children.
It’s worth noting that in 2019, the same house was remodeled – albeit not in such flashy pinks – for a collaborative project between Airbnb and Barbie to commemorate the doll brand’s 60th anniversary. The house was available for a limited time on Airbnb for a “dream price” of only $60 per night.
