The holiday season has officially begun, and many tourists have gone abroad to sunny resorts. But the battle for sunbeds, well known to many vacationers, has reached new heights: one traveler in an all-inclusive hotel decided to give a fight to insolent vacationers and take revenge on them for occupied seats by the pool. She said this in a video published on TikTok.
What solution did the author of the video find? Every day of her vacation, she simply threw the guests’ towels into the water. Often, disputes surrounding the reservation of sunbeds become the main problem for vacationers. Many hotels prohibit this practice, which sometimes leads to a real war between tourists. In multi-member TikTok videos, often posted with comical background music, people can be seen making morning runs to be the first to grab seats by the pool and throwing their towels on the sunbeds.
But the story, which one vacationer shared on a social network, caused a heated discussion. The tourist claims that she was the victim of a violation of the etiquette of using sunbeds. At the same time, she did not specify which resort it was about. She noted that the all-inclusive hotel was struggling to find free seats on the beach or by the pool, with dry towels instead of people on sunbeds.
At the beginning of her vacation, she came to terms with the situation, but the problem persisted. “On the third day, I decided to remove some towels from two sunbeds. “In four hours, an elderly couple appeared and said that they had towels lying there, so these were their places, and they kicked us out with the help of the administrator,” the tourist shared.
The guest was angry at the injustice. Probably, this only prompted her to commit a “thief” act. She decided to take action: to throw away the towels from the occupied sunbeds and thus free up seats. “It drove me crazy, so every day after breakfast I went to remove the towels from every sunbed that was left unattended, and then I watched the chaos from my balcony,” the girl said.
Her act of revenge caused a scandal in the hotel. Many vacationers complained about floating things, and only after this incident did the administration take matters into their own hands and put up warning signs that towels left unattended would be removed. Thus, the girl took revenge on all the rest of the hotel and achieved her goal.
The post about her actions became viral on the network, gaining more than 30 thousand likes and causing heated discussions among users on social networks. Opinions were shared in the comments. Some supported her action, believing that reserving sunbeds is a bad practice, tourists should arrive early if they want to take seats, and not use “terry change”. “Sooner or later, we find a free spot for ourselves, but to our surprise, many sunbeds remain reserved for almost the whole day or are never used,” complained one user. Others expressed their displeasure at the retaliation, arguing that everyone has the right to reserve a seat if they have paid for a hotel stay. Diplomats were among the commentators. Yes, one of them proposed a compromise solution: to allow seat reservation only with the presence of personal items, such as a phone or a backpack.
In addition, there was a controversy in the comments about which country’s visitors use this scheme more actively than others. “Germans are notorious for waking up at dawn and occupying all the sunbeds, leaving their towels behind, and returning to their room for a nap or breakfast,” noted one of them. It was probably an offended Briton.
