Hotel prices in Turkey have increased by an average of 35% over the past month. Such statistics were presented by the Association of Hoteliers of Turkey (TÜROB).
In its report, the association announced that hotel occupancy in Turkey in July 2022 increased by 7.9% compared to last July and averaged 71.3%. However, the level of “before” 2019 has not yet been reached — at that time, occupancy reached 75.6%.
The same report found that average room prices across Turkey also rose to an average of €158 in July. The increase in prices amounted to 35% until July 2021 – a figure so huge that it is time to be horrified. At the same time, the authors of the study note that their current prices were mainly given by high-end hotels. The main increase in prices is in Antalya, Bodrum, and Istanbul – it is due to the increase in prices in the resorts and the main excursion capital that the average level of growth has risen. However, the researchers did not present individual figures for price increases by resorts.
In terms of occupancy, the picture is as follows: in July 2022, hotel occupancy in Istanbul increased by 15% compared to last year and amounted to 80%. The “before” level has almost caught up – in 2019, it was 81.7%. In Antalya, hotel occupancy was 74.1% in July, showing an increase of 4.8% compared to last year.
“We see that the growth that has continued until today in 2022 will continue. While we can’t give exact numbers yet, we believe that August 2022 will be one of the best months of the year. In the case of Istanbul, September looks pretty good so far,” TÜROB President Müberra Eresin said. At the same time, in September, Turkey also continues to expect an increase in tourists, and Germany is named in first place among the markets.
