Five-star hotels in Turkey have downgraded their forecasts and told tourists bad news about prices for the next high season: for the summer of 2023, a significant increase in the price of accommodation in high-class hotels is expected compared to the previous similar season. According to preliminary estimates, it is at least 30-50%. However, one reason is that the increase will not be so painful for vacationers.
Hotels in Turkey will be forced to raise their prices in the summer season of 2023 – the economic situation in the country leaves them no choice. We will remind you that earlier in the Turkish press, forecasts of an increase in prices for accommodation in Turkish resort hotels in 2023 by 15-20% on average in the market were announced – compared to the summer of 2022. But the growth will be different in different segments.”
First of all, we are talking about the increase in prices for holidays in Turkey’s high-class hotels – these are 5-star hotels and Deluxe hotels. However, there is an important nuance. Hotel representatives talked about raising prices in euros, which leaves domestic tourists with a chance for a less drastic price increase because the hryvnia exchange rate depends on bank quotes.
It should be noted that representatives of Turkish hotels Seven Seas Gravel Select and Kilit Hospitality Group, which includes such well-known 5* hotel brands as Crystal Hotels and Nirvana Hotels, expressed readiness to increase the price tag for the next peak season. “The rise in prices is inevitable. Spending in the hotel sector has increased, and this applies to all other aspects of life in Turkey. Everything from tomatoes to electricity went up in price. Some hoteliers in the 5-star segment and we are among them, do not want to, but will be forced to increase prices in the summer season by 50%,” the publication quoted the statement of the sales manager of the Seven Seas Gravel Select Hotel Gun Shaban.
As the representative of Kilit Hospitality Group Guzel Kiyyak noted, hotels are also forced to raise prices for next summer, but so far it is in the range of 35-50%. According to the expert, now as part of early booking discounts on accommodation in hotels reach 30%.
However, despite the difficult geopolitical situation and rising prices, tourists are not ready to abandon the most popular tourist destination, added a representative of the hotel group: “I have been working in the hotel business in Turkey for many years. And every year for many years, the prices for holidays in Turkey are increasing. And every year tourists react to such a situation in the same way. Either they shorten the duration of their vacation, or they refocus on more budget hotels. But there is never a mass rejection of the trips themselves.”
A similar trend is observed by travel agents who sell tours to premium hotels. According to them, the demand for expensive beach holidays in the republic this year, marked by the global crisis, on the contrary, is breaking records. Thus, during the New Year holidays, Turkey is confidently in the top three in terms of demand among European tourists.
