Due to the growing number of coronavirus infections, new restrictions are coming into force in Georgia today – public transport will be suspended in the country for three weeks, the hours of cafes and restaurants will be reduced, and festivals will be banned.
From August 14 to September 4 in Georgia:
- the movement of urban transport is restricted (the restriction does not apply to intercity transport);
- it is forbidden to hold festivals, entertainment events, concerts and sports competitions, except for international ones;
- the work of children’s entertainment centers is limited,
- operation of food facilities is allowed until 23:00;
- control over compliance with the ban on weddings, memorial services and other similar mass events will be further strengthened.
- government agencies and private companies are instructed to transfer their employees to remote mode.
- As urban transport will be stopped, the state promises to ensure regular transportation of the population to the main vaccination facilities.
Georgia is experiencing a fourth wave of coronavirus. Every day the number of infected increases by four to five thousand people.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Georgia, more than 471 thousand cases of infection have been recorded, more than 415 thousand have recovered, 6,321 have died.
