NATO has provided information on the number of additional Allied forces deployed on the Alliance’s eastern flank.
According to these data, as of March 16, Poland had the largest number of allied troops – 10,500 servicemen from four countries. 3,300 troops from five NATO countries have been sent to Romania.
There are 2,000 additional forces in Estonia, 1,700 in Latvia, 4,000 in Lithuania, 2,100 in Slovakia, 900 in Bulgaria and 800 in Hungary.
In the Baltic States, the Allies provide air force, and in Poland and Slovakia – air defense.
NATO says it has 40,000 troops under its direct command and adds that there are 100,000 US troops in Europe. 130 Allied planes and 140 warships are on high alert.
Earlier, the pact clarified that the strengthening of the eastern flank was first carried out after Russia’s occupation of Crimea in 2014. The alliance is expected to confirm long-term plans for an advanced presence in June as the security situation changes following the start of the war in Ukraine.
