German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called for EU enlargement by including the countries of the Western Balkans, Ukraine and Moldova, and later Georgia.
The politician stated this while speaking at the Charles University in Prague, but he did not name specific dates for the admission of these states to the EU.
This decision, according to the German Chancellor, could be taken as part of a likely reform of the EU and the waiver of the right of veto for EU member states, so that the principle of the majority could be guided in matters of sanctions policy. However, to make such a decision, one will have to vote according to the old principle of consensus, that is, the consent of absolutely all members.
