The European Commission has asked EU countries to allow COVID testing before passengers arrive at airports.
The Commission notes that each country currently has its own approach and that various public services are responsible for verifying vaccination, disease or testing documents. To avoid duplication of inspections, the EU invites countries, airports and airlines to agree on who is responsible for these activities.
According to the commission, states should ensure that the inspection is carried out as early as possible and preferably before the arrival of the passenger at the airport of departure. This month, the number of flights to Europe is expected to reach 60 percent of the level before the 2019 pandemic.
