On Monday, the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority (SCA) denied rumors of the arrest of EVER GIVEN crew members.
SCA Chief Admiral Osama Rabi said in a statement that the authorities did not object to the departure or replacement of any of the crew members, provided there was a sufficient percentage of seafarers needed to ensure the safety of the vessel.
Earlier, on April 15, SCA allowed two crew members of the Panamanian-flagged Ever Given to leave Egypt due to extraordinary personal problems.
In his statement, Rabi reaffirmed the government’s desire to succeed in negotiations with the Panamanian shipowner EVER GIVEN and the insurance company. He added that the agency has shown great flexibility in seeking joint solutions that are suitable for all parties.
The Rebbe expressed hope for an agreement to be reached as soon as possible in light of the great opportunities offered by SCA.
The head of the GSS confirmed that the commission is absolutely flexible in dealing with the situation and negotiations.
In a previous statement, Rabi confirmed that the investigation into the landing of the arrested EVER GIVEN was still ongoing, in parallel with the continuation of negotiations with the shipowner and the insurance company to reach an agreement on 916 million claims for compensation.
“The authorities are not sparing efforts to ensure the success of the negotiations and are fully cooperating to meet the requirements of the crew [on board] of the ship, which is currently being held in the Great Bitter Lakes until the end of the investigation,” said Admiral Rabi. responded to requests from the shipowner to allow two crew members to leave the ship and return home for emergency personal matters.”
The Admiral confirmed that all logistical requirements for the ship’s crew are provided through the shipping agency. All 25 members of the ship’s crew are Indians.
