As The Guardian reports, Europe has been covered by a new wave of coronavirus: in many European countries, an increase in new cases of COVID-19 infection is recorded.
As almost all restrictions are lifted, experts say the number of infections could rise sharply during the summer, leading to high deaths.
So, the incidence is growing in Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, the Netherlands, and Denmark.
In Portugal, the number of infected per million population per week is 2,043 people, in France – 920 (a four-fold increase), and in Germany – 715 people (double increase).
Now in Europe, new sub-variants of the Omicron strain, BA.4 and BA.5, are mainly being identified.
