It became known which country is the most crowded with tourists worldwide. It turned out that she is not in Asia, but in Europe, DailyStar reports.
According to the study, the most overpopulated country today is Austria. For every resident of this country, there are at least 3 tourists. Every year, about 32 million people visit this country, while the local population is only 8.9 million citizens.
Most travelers head straight to the Austrian capital, Vienna. This city is home to many iconic attractions, for example, the Vienna State Opera, the Natural History Museum, the Schönbrunn Residence, and others. Fortunately, as the publication notes, Vienna’s square allows it to receive a large number of tourists.
However, not all cities in the country can cope with the influx of travelers. For example, Hallstatt, located on the shores of Lake Hallstatt, has recently become especially popular among tourists. This picturesque area is believed to have inspired the Disney hit Frozen (2013). Nevertheless, residents are unhappy with the influx of tourists and even took to the streets to protest against traffic jams and congestion caused by visitors.
