The Australian authorities announced the closure of the country’s embassy in Kiev. Its personnel were immediately evacuated due to the “deteriorating security situation” in Ukraine. This is stated in a press release from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs.
“Amid the deteriorating security situation due to the accumulation of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine, the Australian government ordered the evacuation of the Australian Embassy in Kiev and suspended their work,” the statement said.
The Australian Foreign Office added that they would move the embassy to a temporary office in Lviv. The agency also advised Australian citizens to leave Ukraine immediately, as “security conditions may change soon.”
