A joke by a Virgin airline passenger resulted in his dismissal and arrest, RollOnFriday reports.
According to the publication, 42-year-old Australian Chris Allen was flying with colleagues from Sydney to Hobart on the island of Tasmania to take part in a legal conference. During the flight, Allen decided to play a prank on his fellow passengers to pass the time and wrote a note in the toilet.
“I am being held against my will. Send help,” he allegedly wrote in a note that he passed on to colleagues through flight attendants.
Alarmed crew members read the message and warned the aircraft commander.
In Tasmania, the board was met by police and firefighters. Law enforcement officers took the Australian and two of his colleagues into custody. Allen faces liability for what happened on the plane, and the man has already been fired from the law firm.
