UAE and Saudi Arabia plan to launch “Arab Schengen” for tourists

A single visa for the countries of the Persian Gulf may be introduced for tourists visiting the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and other countries of the Persian Gulf, reports Arabian Business.

The proposal was discussed by representatives of the Persian Gulf countries at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai. According to the ATM website, the introduction of a “Schengen visa” is currently under negotiation. According to a report by the sister publication Arabian Business Hotelier Middle East, the initiative will allow tourists to visit partner countries on a single visa.

“This is a great opportunity to bring the Gulf countries together. In 2022, we had 9.9 million visitors. How? Through one key initiative: we began to jointly promote Bahrain as a single destination with the GCC,” said Fatim Al Sayrafi, Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom Bahrain.

According to the minister, if all GCC countries join their efforts to move forward, the opportunities are “incredible”. Recall, recently it became known that the governments of Kazakhstan and China are planning to introduce a visa-free regime for their citizens in both directions.
