The EU proposes to cancel the agreement on simplified visas for citizens of the Russian Federation

As Bloomberg reports, the EU has proposed canceling the current agreement on a simplified process for obtaining visas for citizens of Russia. The offer came from the Czech Republic.

Yes, if this decision is adopted, the consular fee will increase from 35 to 80 euros. The application processing period will also increase.

Such a decision, according to European officials, should smooth out differences between EU member states regarding the issuance of visas. Several European countries do not support any restrictions: Germany, Hungary, Greece, Portugal, and Cyprus. The meeting of the heads of internal affairs of the EU countries on this issue will take place on August 30-31 in Prague.
