Thailand is considering a proposal to temporarily waive the visa fee for tourists who have received a visa on arrival. Such measures, according to officials, will increase the flow of tourists.
If the government accepts this proposal, the payment of the visa fee will be canceled until the end of 2022. So citizens of other 17 countries will be able to apply for a visa on arrival free of charge.
Currently, the fee for a 15-day visa on arrival (VOA) is 2,000 baht. 1000 baht – the price for those who apply for a tourist visa at the embassy.
Tour operators support this idea. In addition, they propose to the government to extend the period of stay in the country from 30 to 45 days and from 15 to 45 for those who receive a visa on arrival. The practice of abolishing the visa fee was applied in Thailand even before the pandemic.
It was previously reported that following the cancellation of the Thailand Pass, the Thai authorities are exempting foreigners from providing another document – the TM6 immigration form – from July 2.
